Good publicity is hard to come by but any thing that shows we are pushing for something bigger than ourselves, people will catch on and join the cause.
As usual, the media has chosen to portray SOS organizers as protesting against something, when, indeed, these students have worked hard to provide information, awareness, & an opportunity for FAU students to learn about the budget process, the horrible mess that the entire state budget is in, and allow students to ask important decision-makers what they are going to do about it. Instead, Jake Smith's essay reads more like a B Movie script--designed to draw readers in to be "sold" to City Links advertisers. What a shame!
We are a group of FAU students dedicated to the cause of educating and informing our fellow students and trying to make a difference. Our focus is on acting as a voice for the student body in light of the inevitable state budget cuts to the state University system, and representing our fellow Owls to Legislators, members of the media, Administrators, and the Board of Trustees.
